Teriyaki

Teriyaki

(marinated and grilled fish or meat)

DESCRIPTION

Teriyaki is a way of cooking which can be applied to either fish or meat. It involves a short time marinating and then grilling. It gives fresh salmon in particular a wonderful taste. The recipe below gives instructions to make the marinade yourself – alternatively you can buy a ready made one from us!
If you don’t like grilling, you can fry the fish or meat in a little vegetable oil – and forego the cooking foil.

INGREDIENTS
    For the marinade:
  • 3 tablespoons shoyu
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 2 tablespoons Mirin
  • 2 teaspoons juice from fresh grated ginger
  • Sugar or honey to taste
  • Fresh fish, steak or chicken pieces
METHOD
  1. Mix all the marinade ingredients
  2. Marinate the fish or meat for about 30 minutes
  3. Place fish or meat into cooking foil shaped to retain the marinade
  4. Grill until tender
